Dear Peter
I enclose a commendation of your work for which we are most grateful! After a decade of trying to maintain our pond and surrounds, we now finally have a very visual and manageable area, which is the highlight of our garden, and all thanks to you! Previously, the main problems with our pond were its rock setting of about a metre and a half high structure of honeycomb rocks, which had never been cemented in by the previous owners, and a spectacular papyrus plant, which was very much out of control. There was a small pond about half-way up the structure which had obviously been designed to have a waterfall running into the larger pond at the base and this had been connected at one time, but clearly not been working efficiently. We had had several quotes to re-design the area and these all were to completely dismantle the existing rocks and build a retaining wall behind them, then cement them back in. Quotes for this work were between $5-$7,000, which we could not justify. I found Peter Cole in the Yellow Pages and checked out the website and was impressed with what I saw. I made an appointment and Peter came out promptly, spent a great deal of time examining the said area, and presented us with a quote which I thought was very reasonable. He spent several hours re-designing and cleaning the area and I was very impressed with the thoroughness of all his work, particularly with regard to repairing the surface areas, both of the ponds and the surrounding rocks. In addition to re-arranging the rocks so that they formed much more of a pleasing visual feature (and additionally, were more accessible for maintenance) Peter created small areas of greenery throughout the rocks and re-potted several of the papyrus plants, along with an iris, which had been barely visible in its previous surrounds. He also sculpted a very natural-looking run-off from the upper pond to the lower and the whole arrangement was given much more depth visually. After installing an aerator and pump, Peter turned on the water and the results were much more exciting than I could have imagined. We now have the lovely visual area pictured in the photos, as well as the very restful sound of running water. Peter has totally changed the look of our garden and I would recommend him for all projects in this line of work. As well as having the ability to ‘look outside the square’ and create very individual spaces, he was also great to work with and was prompt, reliable and meticulous in all aspects of the job. Thanks again, Peter, Kind regards, Steffie Wallace Brighton, Vic. |
